Intensive Therapy
for Relationships

When It’s too much for weekly therapy,

We Go Deeper—Together

Intensive therapy offers extended support for urgent, tender, or complex relationship moments.

What is Intensive Therapy?

For when relationships feel like they might break or already have.

Intensive therapy allows for a deep-dive in to a specific issue causing conflict or pain in your relationship. Often couples, families, and polycules need more than the standard therapy hour to make progress or can't wait weeks to tackle something big.

Intensive therapy for relationships offers focused time, multiple therapists, and a structured plan to work through complex or time-sensitive relational challenges. Our short-term intensive therapy offerings are designed to meet that need—with clarity, direction, and deep support.

CoTenacious Therapy is unique in that we offer Intensive Therapy with more than 1 therapist. Generally we will work in pairs but larger groups may require additional hands. We are happy to hear who you think may be a good fit for your family but we will also talk as a team to ensure that the therapists have the expertise you need.

At this time, intensives will be held online via secure video conferencing. This makes it each to "gather" folks who don't live close to one another. All of our therapists are licensed in Maryland but some have additional states they can work in. Please let us know the state or country that each person lives in so we can make sure we are properly licensed there.

Who's it for?

These sessions are intended to be short term support services for...

  • Families navigating rupture or reconnection after estrangement including cutoffs.

  • Polycule members needing clarity on roles, boundaries, and agreements, support after a rupture in trust or communication, or recalibrating the structure of the dynamic.

  • Couples in crisis, stuck in loops, facing major decisions, or deciding to open their marriage and practice ethical, consenual non-monogamy.

  • Adult siblings seeking reconnection after estrangement or transitioning to caretakers

  • Coparents who are preparing for separate households, transitioning their relationship after divorce, navigating blended family dynamics, or coming together to support a child in crisis.

  • Busy Folks who are looking for an intensive and immersive experience and don't have time for ongoing therapy

  • Long Distance Relationships who aren't always together physically and want to make the most of their time together to set themselves up for success or navigate conflict.

What does it look like?

1. Pre-Intensive Preparation

Before we begin, we lay the groundwork with intention and clarity:

  • Intake questionnaire to understand your needs, structure, and relationship history

  • 30-minute sessions with each individual involved to hear your perspective

  • A goal-setting session to define what success looks like for you

  • With your consent, we’ll collaborate with any current therapists or professionals involved in your care

2. The Intensive Session

We come together for a half-day, full-day, or weekend intensive that prioritizes real-time support and practical growth. This session includes:

  • Structured skill-building in:

    • Communication

    • Problem-solving

    • Emotional regulation & distress tolerance

    • Decision-making & discernment

  • Group and individual configurations as needed (breakouts, joint work, etc.)

  • A solution-focused approach that helps you clarify your values, understand each other more fully, and determine what’s next

3. Post-Intensive Wrap-Up

After your intensive, you’ll receive a personalized Google document summarizing:

  • Key themes, reflections, and agreements

  • Concrete takeaways and exercises to use on your own

  • Recommendations for follow-up support (referrals, resources, or structured next steps)

  • “Re-engagement flags” to help you know if and when it’s time to reach back out

How much does it cost?

Investment & Insurance

We believe in providing accessible, high-quality care—and part of that is being transparent about costs. Unfortunately, Intensive Therapy services are not covered by insurance.
These offerings operate outside the traditional medical model of therapy and do not include a diagnosis or an identified patient. They are also often facilitated by multiple therapists and center around relational goals, which insurance companies do not deem “medically necessary”—even when the emotional need is very real.

Package Pricing:

  • The Reset (maximum of 3 hours, 2 Therapist): Starting at $750

  • The Realignment (maximum of 6 hours, 2-3 Therapists): Starting at $1,500

  • The Rebuild (maximum of 10 hours split between 2 days, 2-3 Therapists): Starting at $2,500

Your final fee will depend on:

  • Number of therapists involved

  • Length and structure of the intensive

  • Custom elements (e.g., follow-up consults, collaboration with other providers)

You will get a full invoice breakdown to review before committing.

Payment Options

  • HSA/FSA cards may be accepted (check with your plan)

  • Payment plans available for some services—just ask during your consult

  • A superbill is not available for insurance reimbursement due to the structure of this service
